Day 19: Acts 5-9 Opening Reflection
ESAPISM
There are two ways one may escape – you can escape by deception or by the power of the Lord.
In today’s text we observe people being able to escape certain situations – Peter, Jacob, Moses, Saul and even Jesus. How many of you can add your name to the latter list. God has the ability to transform our situations, remove things form our lives, add things to our lives, and make your surroundings so different that you feel as though you have escaped.
There are some keys to the art of Escape – especially when The Lord is involved.
· You have to seek the Lord
· You have to wait on the Lord
· You have to trust the Lord
The power of the Lord is not magic nor is it a trick, but the former and the latter do serve as good agents for an earthly depiction of what he Lord can do. Everyone knows however, that if you do not follow each step of the magic process the trick will not come to fruition. For the Lord to help you escape you have to follow the process – seek, wait and trust – we are like the woman tied up in a tank full of water waiting on the magician to make us disappear in to a dry, safe place, if we move or react when we are not supposed to the trick can go horribly wrong and we may even die
Allow the lord the opportunity to do what only a divine omnipotent God can do
